Are you ready to have some fun?!? So we are finally getting programming hashed out, I apologize it has taken so long, but planning a con and organizing with the hotel, in such a short period of time, is a lot of hard work! Unfortunately, there is both good news and bad news.
The bad news is, upon the cancellation of the beloved FCN, the hotel, being the businessy people they are, starting taking reservations for the weekend previously occupied by FCN. Fortunately, since we hopped into negotiations quickly, we were able to work with the hotel and get the majority of the space previously used for the con for the entire weekend. Unfortunately, due to another group sneaking in there and snagging the space during the day Friday, we will not be able to get into the main ballroom until 6pm on Friday night. We apologize for this as we know this causes a lot of inconvenience for people who normally plan on this con being a Thursday to Monday event. I love lasers as much as the next bear, but this is what we have to work with this year. We are however, already making plans with the lovely Novi Sheraton to get the full weekend, starting Thursday evening, for MCFC 2015.
Now for the good news!! We will have other things besides the ballroom events starting Friday during the day and the rest of the weekend will be full of fun. We will have panels running, as we do have access to other rooms earlier in the day Friday. We will have the sponsors lounge up and running with some lovely Michigan made ciders and beers and Faygo, YUM!! We will also have a main gathering area open for everyone to converse and wander about. So just a sneak peak into what we have planned thus far: a homebrew mead competition for sponsors, a dance competition, a construction themed egg hunt, performances by some musical and some not so musical guests, dances for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, and some great panels too!! So while we may have to wait to “officially” start the con with opening ceremonies at 6pm on Friday, we will make sure the fun starts way before then!
