Say it with me: Black Lives Matter!
MCFC support our black community, and stand together against oppression.
That suffering diminishes us all. The fight against systemic racism is uplifting, but it's also frightening seeing the violent force used against the peaceful protesters demanding basic human rights and changes to an unjust system. We stand with the protests for racial justice.
As if that's not enough, at the same time we're seeing a surprise attack on LGBTQIA+ rights. Let's make this clear, too: Our trans and non-binary community members are valid!
We've been looking at our processes to see where we can make the convention more equitable and inclusive for all of our BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ attendees. We've also been listening to the stories now being told, and have seen how many in our community feel underrepresented, ignored, or even unwelcome. We cannot tolerate that.
To that end we've created firstname.lastname@example.org where you can send your experiences, recommendations, or just vent about your frustrations with the fandom. Change is happening all over, and it's only getting started. We're going to keep shouting globally, but we can at least make things better in our own little corner now. So please send us your thoughts.
If you're looking for ways to contribute outside the fandom, here's a great starting point: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
Keep up the fight however you can. We're strongest together. Love you all.
